There's a possibility I'll be going to Salisbury NC next weekend to see my sister play softball. If we go, we'll be taking I-81 from Hagerstown, MD down to pick up I-77 east of Wytheville, VA. Anything notable either on the way, or in the vicinity of Salisbury worth checking out?

Well not really. :p
You could bring your shotgun and shoot a few rounds of skeet at the Rowan Country Wildlife Range. Or you could scoot on over to Morrow Mountain to see the oldest mountain range in the North America.
Aside from that you'd have to go down to Concord to go to the Bass Pro Shop or Charlotte to see the sites down there.

The State Transportation Museum in Spencer (at the old Southern RR Spencer Shops) is a pretty nice place to spend a few hours. We used to take the kids back 15 years or so ago, they had an operational SRR steam engine. Down in Charlotte there are a couple of good gunshops; Hyatt's on Wilkinson BLVD and Carolina Sporting Firearms on South BLVD.

Looking like I may have to take a drive down to Charlotte or Concord. If I do, what all is worth checking out down there? Anything NASCAR related worth seeing?

Are you driving from Pittsburg? If so, why aren't you going by way of I-79 to US-19 to I-77?

The transportation museum and Spencer Steam Train Shops are a great time. There is also National Cemetary where the second largest prison in the Confederacy stood. Check out the town of Gold Hill that is just east os Salisbury. Neat Town!!!! You can guess how it got its name. If you like NASCAR head a little west to Mooresville. If you really want to check out a great town take a trip to Love Valley. It is a true western type town. Some real characters there. Be careful at night there for it can get pretty rowdy. Lots to do around Salisbury!

Next weekend starts my Spring Break, and if I go, I have to head home to meet my mom to drive with her. I live about 35 minutes or so from Breezewood PA, where I-76 and I-70 diverge, and we'll be taking 70 to Hagerstown MD, then getting on 81 South. Wish I could head out from the 'Burgh, though I'd get sidetracked driving through WV checking out all the good stuff. People can say what they want, I love West Virginia.
