The only M70 fwts I have seen were at Cabelas in Scarbrough, Maine. They were asking $899 and had a 270, 30-06, and 300 Win Mag. None in smaller calibers.

New Fwt. in .22-250 aren't on the shelves yet, but should be about $789 Savage 14s-about$659

I've seen the savage 14's / 114's for under 600

they really let me down with the new bolt release though.

Why plastic? Why??

I have heard of them under $600 as well, which would be good...

I bought my Savage 14 AC in April for $589. Sportsman's Warehouse had the new Mod 70 FW for $759 on Thursday.

Bought my Savage American Classic in .308 LH for $590 ... tax included.

I don't really find the bolt release being plastic as an issue. It feels solid and it's new position makes it highly unlikely to be broken. In the event it does get broken, a guy could always have a steel replacement made. It really isn't mission critical.

It aint a show stopper, it's just a "button" essentually, I'm just one of those extreme "anti plastics"

but I'll get over it.

on a possitive note, I worked the action on the new 14 today & wow... less wag, more glide. I like, I like a lot.

She's a different animal these days. in a good way.

I paid through the nose for my 14. However, it's a non-listed caliber, custom order, LH American stock, and European floorplate. Kinda an erector set rifle.

I haven't seen a new Model 70 here, and the only place (Gander Mtn) that has Savage 14's in stock, wants $699 for them. I think my gun buying days are over with prices like that.

Gander Mountain has some of the most ridiculous prices for new rifles ... except, once in a while, they run clearances or sales with some realistic prices. Just like shopping at the mall, but they run their sales far less frequently. They are a good place to take a look at rifles though. Frequently you can find a better price on Gunbroker from one of the discount sellers than local. Just be sure they are out of state so the S&H + FFL fees more or less cancel out your state's sales tax. Gander Mountain would do well to lower their prices some. They would move a lot more inventory if they did and still make profit ... my $.02

I paid $786 for a FWT 3 weeks ago and it is a 2008 Deluxe. I was quoted $675 for the standard FWT that is out now.

I just got my Savage 114 Classic in 270 for $399 NIB from Bass Pro in Ashland, VA. They were on clearance. They had 14s as well but the only cals I seen were 243 and 7mm-08. Though I didnt look too hard because I wanted a 270.

Great price..

I won a Savage 114 classic in 300 win mag. I personally can't
warm up to the plastic magazine. I had dreams of turning it
into a 300 H&h, the action is long enough but Savage doesn't
make a magazine long enough. Looking for a suitable rifle
or action capable of turning into a 300HH in Grand Junction
gun shops and pawn shops turned up nada,zip,0.
Looking in the newspaper adds, turned up a Sako Finlight in
375 HH, I called the guy and looked at it. He said he was pretty
sure it never had been shot, So $500 and a trip to my gunsmith
with a 308 Krieger barrel and I will have my 300 HH.

I mainly just go to Gander now just to see what's new. We have a BPS hopefully going in soon. I think they will make Gander go out of business if that's the case. I was in the BPS in Destin, FL in July last year, and they had .280 Rem ammo for $25 a box I believe. The cheapest place here was $36 for the same ammo, and Gander was over $40 a box.

The part that pushes the bullets up is nylon. The only part on the rifle.
