Anyone have a link to one of them websites that let you enter all your numbers and it burps out your recoil in ft-lbs and in fps? Gotta help a buddy prove to his wife that their daughter needs a new, light kicking deer rifle. Shameless, huh?

Heres what I've used for years:
1) 1.75 x powder charge(in grains)= CV 2) CV + bullet wt = A 3) A divided by 7000= B 4) muzzle vel x B = C 5) square C(mutiply C by itself) 6) 64.35 x gw(gun wt in lbs @ tenths) = D 7) C divided by D = GR(gun recoil in ft lbs)
1.75=(constant)compensates for velocity of gases being higher than bullet velocity. 64.35=(constant)twice the accleration of gravity
Perceived recoil has ALOT to do with stock design and how it fits the shooter. So much so that a more powerful cartridge(within reason)in a properly fitting stock will have less perceived recoil than a lesser cartridge in a poorly designed/fitting one.

Hey cole,I couldn't get your link to work.
Brian, yours is the first link I've used that evidently puts the constants in with their calculations. Matched mine exactly! THANK YA. Some have been off by as much as 8 ft lbs.

Hmmm, it says what I've known for a while My 260 load with a 100 grain Partition at 3200 FPS is a cream-puff. And both the Kimber Montana's (the 308 and 338) recoil as much and just as fast as an 8 Lb 30-06 with a 180. Man my shoulder is good
