Holy Crap, I must be doing something wrong! I plugged data in for 10mm Auto and what a shock. I compared QL to published load data and they are not even close.
For example Hornady #7 lists 14.9gr of AA #9 with their 180gr bullets. Quickloads puts this charge at 112,671 PSI.

Here is my QL data. What am I doing wrong?

Cartridge : 10 mm Auto (CIP)
Bullet : .400, 180, Hornady HP/XTP 40040
Cartridge O.A.L. L6: 1.260 inch or 32.00 mm
Barrel Length : 5.0 inch or 127.0 mm
Powder : Accurate No.9

Predicted data by increasing and decreasing the given charge,
incremented in steps of 2.0% of nominal charge.
CAUTION: Figures exceed maximum and minimum recommended loads !

You should check the case capacity of your cases. My samples here are really small (Norma brass 24.1 grs water) and probably yours may have a greater case capacity. Some cases I found may hold 26.5 grains of water. For such cases Accurate shows a max load of 13.5 grains AA#9 in their loading book for that Hornady bullet. Because of the case capacity issues the CIP has lowered the maximum pressure to 33000 psi vs SAAMI 37000 psi.

My inputs are as follows.
10mm Auto
5 Inch Barrel
COAL 1.260
case length .990
Bullet weight 180gr
Max Case Capacity Overflow 24.00
Powder AA #9 14.9gr
Bullet Hornady XTP 40040
Everything else is default program data.

Straight wall case hot loads not predicted well by QL, as some unburned powder may blow out the muzzle.

The QL instructions state that.

I have incrementally worked up overloads, just to see what gives first, the brass or the gun:
19 Bagder
.223,
6mmBR
.243,
25acp,
257 Roberts AI,
270,
32acp,
32sw,
32S&WLong,
32-20,
7.62x25mm,
7.62x39mm ,
308,
7.62x54R,
8x57mm,
.380,
9x19mm,
9x23mm,
357 Sig,
38 sp,
357 mag,
38sw,
40sw,
10mm,
10.4mm,
45acp,
45Colt,
.410,
45/70
and my personal wild cats

Quickload thinks that many of my straight wall handgun overloads are over 1,000,000 psi and 2200 fps.
But they do not even piercer the primer.
And they certainly do not get 2200 fps on the chrono.

The answer is, they made a big fireball, and QL went the conservative route and estimated what the pressure and velocity would be if the powder burned in the barrel.

The max load for 10mm 180 gr AA#9 is 13.5 gr.
I have shot 15 gr in a stock Glock barrel [with poor case support] and got a feed ramp bulge.

Ramshot Enforcer = AA#9 = H108 = WC820
I have shot 15.5 gr with a 200 gr bullet [all that will fit] in a Barsto barrel with better case support. That load was un eventful.

If you want lots of power out of 10mm, get 800X or Power Pistol, and a well supported barrel.

Better still, get a 40sw barrel with good case support for a 10mm pistol, and take advantage of the stronger 40sw case with small primer pocket.
