Well here at the campfire, fairly frequently the topic of favorite caliber comes up. But let's hear what your favorite wildcat is!

My personal favorite is not quite in the wildcat category any longer, but for most practical purposes, it should be.
338-06.

I've never had a wildcat before but I'm having a .358 WSSM coming. Would love a 6.5/378 Weatherby and a .338 WSM

25-284.
Some of the Ackley's are close, but I don't think they qualify as true wildcats.
Anybody who seriously concerns themselves with the adequacy of a Big 7mm for anything we hunt here short of brown bear, is a dufus. They are mostly making shidt up. Crunch! Nite-nite!

338-06... not a true wildcat anymore, but close enough. Great little round.

My own wildcat is the 8mm RemMag case necked up to 338. I like this one and use it quite a bit and even loaned it to two Africa safari clients whose ammo did not show up in time for thier hunts and it worked really really well on larger plains game. I even used it, overkill though it might have been, on my largest Warthog. I call my baby the 340 Tyrannosaur but it would be more descriptive to call it a 338 STW as this is about what it amounts to even though the shooting times folks never did come up with a 338 round that I know of. My last load work with this gave me 3200fps with a Barnes 225 TSX and great accuracy.
If I had to pick my favorite AI round would be hard to pick between my 22-250AI and my 348AI. Both give very noticeable real world improvements in performance and case life over the parent cases.

Hey Mark would be interested in your load on the 340. Isn't it basically a 340 wby without the wby shoulder? P.M. me if you don't wanna post the loads publicly.
Thx

I can't speak 4 the other Mark but many moons ago I used 8 rem mag cases to form 340's so it's gotta be pretty darn close.
