Nice fish Tom. I know some of the founding members of the 12 Apostles. One of my old fishing buddies is a member and a Musky nut. He'll fish them right up to freeze up.

Buschy, my son fishes for White Sturgeon out on the Columbia River just out of Portland. They've had several in the 12 foot range at the boat. Then they cut them loose. Can only keep them under about 5 feet or so.

My son told me the best description he could give of the initial hook up was that it was like hooking on to a pick up doing 60 MPH.

I tride to send you a pm grizzlybill, but it says you're not accepting them.

You probably know my FIL. He lived in Point forever, until the early 90's. He worked at the hospital until '99 or 2000, something like that.

Hey Griz, that would be a fun ride there behind one of them. The biggest sturgeon i got so far was a 53" but i was using walleye tackle so it was quite the fight on light gear.

ND, we were just about straight north of your house prolly over a mile. Just south west of Whiskey. its been good for the most part out there but got a big crack starting to move up and down now. last week it was about a foot wide, now one side is about a foot up and crack closed. Not sure if i get to ice any more this year, soon time to get the boat out in a couple weeks.

Don't talk about getting the boat out. OOOFFF. I can't wait for the ice to clear off the river. I'm guessing we have about 2 week til it starts to break up, and another week befor we can get on it.

Stergoen would be a blast to catch. Fishing down in De pere, by Green Bay, guys will catch them occaisionaly while fishing for walleys in the spring. It'll tow their boats around a bit. That gets interesting, because you could step from boat to boat with all the guys fishing down there.

Tzone, thats the way it gets up here on the rainy river come break up. i am thinking possibly about 3 weeks before it starts to break up but you never know. Theres open water farther up the river by I-Falls soit is coming, and when you can boat 150 walleyes a day it makes up for having to wear the snowsuit and braving the cold in the boat. The worst part is waiting in line for all the people.

well since you guys have given me spring fever, here is a pic of my biggest muskie to date (50"):

10 minutes before I caught this, the guy I was fishing with caught a 48". Then 2 weeks later I caught a 49 1/2, but I cant find that pic. OH DANG IT, you got me out with fish pictures. I resisted the beer, but the fish pics got me.

Buschy,

Fishing DePere is VERY similar to the spring bite on Rainy. My cousin used to take me up to Rainy when I was just a whipper snapper.

DePere is the same, 150 eyeballers is real do able if you can brave the elements.

Tom, I'll have to check into the "PM" it was working last week.

I was at the clinic than the hospital from 1994 to 2008, so I may know your FIL.

They're starting to catch Walleyes from boats below the Dubay Dam.

I don't want to hear about fishing below the Dubay dam right now. grin My boat is still in storage.

I'd be willing to bet you know my FIL if you worked at the hospital. He worked in the hospital kitchen. His first name is Pete. I'll tell you more when your PM's work. I'll try it now.

Tom

Nope, Mille Lacs. And it was a pig, that is for sure. Sure got my knees to knockin'. That was a great spot, but it got overfished and it is worthless now. I once caught 6, yes 6, muskies in one day at that spot.

Ok, I just tried it again. Still the same deal. I have sent 2 others today, so it is not on my end.

Must be some sort of tab to hit or uncheck somewhere.

Got it Bill. I figured you'd know him. He's quite a guy. King of the B.S. but has a heart of gold. He can't say no to anybody that needs help of any kind. Great guy.

I was down your way today to get running shoes for me and the wife. All that water below the Dubay dam had me as antsy as a kid at Disney. It will be no time now. My boat is still in storage for at least this week. Weather dependent, I may bring it home next Saturday.

Have fun at the gun show.

Sent another PM. I'll have to start thinking seriously about getting my boat out too.
