Anybody here run a 16" carbine upper on a regular A2 stock lower with the standard 5.oz rifle buffer and spring? Any function or related issues with that set up?

Used to on a Colt with no problems. It came with the pastic piece of crap and I swapped it out for a real buffer.

I do however know of one instance where an SP-1 carbine upper would not work on a standard A2 stocked lower, short stroked.

It mostly depends on what size gas port the barrel has.

I just finished up putting the lower together and put a new upper on it out to try out. I like the A2 stock better than the slider, just can't get used to cheek welding on a tube. We'll see how it runs when I can get to the range.

buy an H buffer and try it, that is the standard for the carbines.

Don't stick a carbine H buffer in a rifle length receiver extension. The buffer is paired with the receiver extension, in this case an A2 rifle extension, not the gas system of the upper. If he was running a collapsible stock with a carbine length gas system upper, then an H buffer would be OK, in an A2 stock it is not.

The carbine upper is running fine with the rifle buffer A2 stock, thanks for the input guys.
