I just purchased my first single shot in a Ruger #1. The gun was origionally a 25-06 but was rechambered for 257wby.
I'm looking for a set of rings but the selection seems to be pretty sparse.
I usually use Talley 1 piece rings with my bolt guns but this is a bit different.
What do other people use? Just Ruger rings or Leupold rings?
I've also seem a few people with the extended rings to move the scope back a bit closer to the shooter. Might need to look for something like that.

I use the Ruger rings. They are tough and stay put.

I use the Ruger rings on all my No.1s except an RSI in 7x57. On that, I am using Warn QDs. Ruger also makes an extended ring that permits mounting the scope farther back, and I have one of those on a .338-06 with a Leupold 2-7X variable. You can order them from Brownell's.

Ruger rings are excellent and can be modified with levers for QD.. Warne makes a nice set of Ruger Rings with levers.

Hi atkinson,
I was wondering on the Ruger ring modification for QD, are the parts from scratch, levers/screws; or procured? Sounds like kinda a neat idea for those that have Ruger rings laying around.

I've had the original Ruger rings on my No.1 25-06 since I bought it in 1987. They've never been off. Never had any reason to remove them. They've never caused/had any issues. Dead nuts reliable. It has a Leupold 3x9 on it.
I've also never thought I had the need for QD rings for that rifle. But, if I needed that scope off in a hurry, a coin from my pocket will fit the slot on the nut and they'll come off quickly. A US fifty cent piece works well, but so will a quarter in a pinch.

You can send your orginal rings back to Ruger and request a pair of extension rings to set the scope back about an inch. I would call first to make sure Ruger still has this policy. I did this about three years ago and works very well with Leupold VX-2 3X9. Good luck. Let me what you find out.
