Doing dope on Big game bullets out to 500 yards is a waste IME. Never shot but one moose as far away as 400 yards. The rest have been inside 250, and most inside of 150

Just pointing out how ballistic coefficient plays an important roll in choosing a bullet. The 200gr Accubond in an 06 is worth looking at for big game, considering the ballistics. On game performance is still a mystery for me with this bullet as I have not used it . Well experienced with the Barnes ,however.

If you wish to try a flat shooting hammer of a load in your .340 weatherby, try the 180 grain Accubond. Out of mine it Chrono's at 3401 fps at 10 ft out of the muzzle. sight it in dead on at 300 yards and you are going to have to try real hard to miss anything under 400. I've never shot anything with it that didn't give up the ghost immediatly. An added bonus is that it kicks less than a .300 RUM.

RE: the Nosler 200g AB: Nosler lists the BC as .588, but others have questioned that. Shooting Times tested some bullet BCs a few years back and came up with .50 for that particular bullet. Computations with the higher BC may be misleading.

All I know is that it's real hard to keep a 140NAB @ 3300 from a 7RM inside a mulie or blackie....4 trys/no recovered bullets/very dead animals....guess I'll keep tryin

Bob33,

Are you sure about that? In the latest Nosler manual they list the 200 AB's BC as .414, and the 225's at .550. I don't see a .588 anywhere.

The .588 BC sounds more like the .30 caliber 200 grainer - maybe that's what he's looking at?

Yeah, that's it. I missed something back there and thought we were still discussing .338 bullets.

The 200 gr, 30 cal AB is hell on deer. It also shoots very well with the two guns I have tried it in.

I love the 200 grain .308 Accubonds. This one was fired into my bull elk at 20 yards. Thru both shoulders and lodged in the hide. It was fired from a TC Encore with 28 inch barrel with 74 grains of IMR7828 Rem brass 215 Fed primer. Weight 121.7 grains
The E-tip is just in the pic. I have 5 boxes of those I would swap for Accubonds if someone is interested

I got one back first try,on the biggest-bodied buck I've ever killed. It weighs about 60 gr IIRC.140 from 7RM at 3250.Quartering on, through on-side shoulder to off-side ribs at about 175 yards.Maybe they tweaked them a bit tougher since I tried them.Accurate bullet...

This has been my experience exzactly.. That is on deer and bear anyway with 180's out of the 30-06...

Entrance same. Wound channel same. Believe it or not smaller exit holes than what I'm used to with the partition. Perform great outa the -06!!!

No. There are better choices.

From what I have read, the Accubond was developed as a polymer tipped bullet for BIG game. Partitions don't shoot as well as BT is many rifles. So folks started using BT on big animals and having failures.

But don''t take my word for it. Email Nosler.

Partition would be my first choice if accuracy in your rifle is acceptable for your hunting. Accubond if you need more accuracy out of your rifle than the Partition can deliver.

My 325 WSM x-bolt loves the 200gr Accubonds, and I think that is how I will go on my next elk hunt.
