i have an essential arms ar-15 in 223. it has a 20 inch barrel with a muzzle crown (no flash hider/muzzle break). it is a flat-top reciever with a free-float forend tube. it also has a hogue pistol grip and an ace skeleton stock. it is currently wearing a 3-9x sightmark mildot scope. it also has a picatinny gas block. could you tell me what i might ask/recieve for this rifle? i am thinking of cleaning out the ole gun cabinet of some lesser used rifles and with the current administration i would think that the ar's are getting decent prices, especially since this gun is a traded gun which i could legally sell to someone at a gunshow with no paperwork. what do you think? -keith

I would ask $1200 for it and go from there. I would not pay that much for one, but someone probably will.

It would also depend on what kind of shape the gun is in ... round count, scrapes and dings, etc.
Obviously an old shot-out range rental gun isn't worth what a well-maintained low-round-count is.

it is probably in 85-90% condition. some light handling marks, but that's it. i would say it has less than 1000 rounds thru it.

Since you can still buy a new Bushmaster or Armalite around here for $1000 (they keep getting them in) and since no MFG has raised their prices to the level some scalpers are wanting, it's at most an $800 gun. I wouldn't give that for it but someone might.

What people will pay defines the value. Some guys will pay more for a buy now, no paper work purchase, and they are fully aware they are paying more.

Agree with TWR. I bought a RRA Elite a few weeks ago brand new for $1100 and I have passed on dozens available online.
Also just because a buyer might want a no paperwork purchase, any seller with a brain shouldn't, if there is paperwork tying the AR to them originally.

I should buy a truckload of those $1000 Bushy's - I can sell 'em down here in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area for $1300 all day long. I haven't been to a gun show in about 5 months where they weren't selling for at least that. Best price I saw a couple weeks ago was $1,350. Lessee - at $300 a pop profit I could drive to Oklahoma and back and still make money! Mike

Funny, I was in Gander mountain in Sherman TX today they had Bushmaster's for $1099 and Rem R15's for $1200. You people can pay what you want but it don't set the value.
Gander mountain sells everything for suggested retail, you want to put a percentage on top of that???

I have not seen any of the sales papers match up to what they actually had on hand in the last 4 months.

I saw them with my own eyes and posted such but panic is hard to overcome I guess. There is a backlog of orders but for those who are paitent deals are around.
I saw the last ban and even did some panic buying myself but the value of high cap mags was inflated just as these and several people lost money including myself. The only ones who made out were the sellers who took advantage of people. But did you ever try to sell something to them? Panic does not raise the value, only the price... Sorry but it pisses me off to see the same mentality when nothing has justified it yet.

Usually I would agree, however with this administration I am not sure it would be wise to hold out for the deal of the century. Peace of mind is allways worth a little extra money for me and my loved ones. In my experience it is extremely difficult to return fire with an non existant or invisible AR, besides I just can't seem to get the vocals downpat. Teeh kah yahhw.

I guess this got my goat due to "value" placed on a "cheaper" (sorry but it is) AR than what can be bought new. I have seen several AR's, stripped lowers etc. in several gun shops here and was basicly told I didn't see what I saw nor did I see the AR's at Gander Mtn. in Sherman TX. last saturday.
Peace of mind buying has some merit but trying to convince everyone else that "this is the last one" only feeds the monster. A democrat in office has always been good for gun sales...
Sorry if I offended anyone.

Picked up another Rock River stripped lower this past week online for $180. Same place had a Rock River Elite upper for $625, but I passed, since I already have one of these. Sell the dominator II sight that comes with it for $100 like I did the last one, and your into a nice Rock River for under $1000.
No reason to pay above retail. I am not even actively looking and I see AR's for retail every couple days.
