Nice----I have one about that size that I caught about 25 miles East of Seven Mile Bridge. Along with it came about 100 chicken dolphin. I had the bull mounted. Still brings back happy memories every time I look at it.

Nice Mahi! Congrats. I caught one just a tad heavier and had a fiberglass mount done. Beautiful. But, the fish itself, tasted horrible.
I don't know if they become bad when they get that size or not. Maybe it's just my culinary skills. lol

Great to catch bulls that size on 30lb tackle.

I had one about that size bounce/flop up off the deck and swat me in the privates so hard i had to lay down.Everybody just laughed so hard.

Hard to mess up a dolphin of any size, the larger ones actually seem to have a milder flavor than the little "chicken" dolphin. One of the best eating fish in any ocean, along with wahoo and grouper. As to color, I've seen them turn snow white with blue dots in the fish box, then back to yellow/green later. I've been told if you dunk them back in saltwater the colors come back out for picture taking, but i never tried this.

Poot peak,
That's a nice bull. Dolphin are loads of fun to catch. During the 14 years I lived in the Keys, the biggest bull I killed was 53 lbs. That was early on. Later we began releasing bigger dolphin, because there were only 2 of us and we preferred to eat the small ones. We seldom froze fish, since catching or spearing fish was easy. Those were great days. We pretty much lived on dolphin, snapper, grouper and lobster.
