Would any of you, who has a custom from Penrod, share any pics and comments? I'm "in line" for one of his rifles and would like to get some ideas. What kind of rings, mounts, extra custom touches etc. Mine is a pre war mod. 70 action and is going to be a 30-06.

Sendero, Mark has built two rifles for me, not model 70's but I'll show pics anyway. I'm very pleased with his metal work and his installation of my Kepplinger set triggers. He finished my .204 Wasp Ruger #1 Feb 12th, took everything to him Oct 1st. Ruger #1 .204 Wasp Ruger #1 .219 DW PDK Mark built this rifle for me two years ago, have about 1000 rounds through it, shoots great. Case is 30-30, 1.900 long,35* shoulder, .270 long neck. .219 Dw PDK targets left is typical group with 50 v-max, right is best group with 50 NBT Different type rifle than you asked about, but hope this helps. I have a custom Winchester lefty in 30-06 built by Mark. He does do great work, no doubt! What is Mark's turnaround time now? Here is a pic of the rear tang mod he does, as well as the built up and checkered bolt release.

All, thanks for the info...and pics
219DW, I was surprised to see the Rugers. Very Nice!!
EDMHunter, I hadn't thought about having Mark range test the rifle but I will..I'd like to see some pics of your rifle.
Here's what Mark is going to build for me:
Pre war (1940) Mod. 70 action 30-06 Blackburn bottom metal #2 Krieger barrel 24" Echols stock (edge) 13 3/4" LOP Checkered bolt release Talley bases , made to fit the receiver 3 panel checkered bolt handle Jeweled bolt Repin the trigger , if needed, and time the safety Action blueprinted and slicked up
I've had second thoughts about the Talley rings but it would be handy to have a second backup scope handy.
It's been awhile since I talked to Mark but he said to allow about a year. I'm not sure what his turn around would be now.
Huntr, that metal work and inletting is awesome. How does it shoot? What does your rifle weigh?

The metal work and inletting is awesome. She shoots great, but, she is/was a tank! I have had the barrel turned down to Win. fwt contour and will have it bedded in an Edge maybe by hunting season. It's good that you have picked the components and know what weight you want, cause if you leave it up to Mark- he will build a tank.

Oh, should add, that rifle was built before McMillan had the Edge option.

Does anyone have instructions of how to post pictures? Yes, IIRC, there is a posting down in the Photography Forum by a guy with specific instructions on how to post pix. I used his instructions when I decided to start posting pix. Don
