I just returned from a few weeks in the southern states. While away I tried to check into the campfire at a local library. Guess what?
A message came up saying the site could not be accessed because it related to weapons and violence.
What does everyone think of that?
Oh in case you are interested this was at a library in Texas.
When I got the above message I tried to access Canadian Gun Nutz and received the same answer. This site is very innocuous compared to the campfire.
Just wondering if anyone else has tried accessing the campfire site from a local library and what their experience has been.

Jim Jim, I gotta call Bullschit on that statement, Rick would never let us have the Chicks with Guns thread that ya'll have there. And yep, I'm a member of CGN.

I've never needed to use a library for internet access for a long time, but last time I did, Shotgunworld was allowed. I guess CA is more weapon friendly than TX.

Yea, that happened to me in a court house while I was waiting to be called or not for jury duty. I just went in the "back door" and still accessed it anyway.

Just out of curiosity what state are you from?
The thing that originally puzzled me was the fact that Texas, a supposedly gun friendly state, would have restrictions of this type in their libraries.

I have had the same thing happen at Libraries I frequent. You just have to ask for the access to be opened up. Its all about censorship and filtering at our public Libraries.

Many Libraries and other "Public" access points are serviced through the Regional Educational Service Centers Servers and have filters which restrict access to porn sites and other sites. It kinda chaps me that the Gun sites are restricted but that's just the way it is right now. If you want to use the states sandbox you have to play by their rules. If any site could be accessed at the public library then you'd have the porn watching element in there hanging around using free internet with your kids, wives, sisters and mothers. No body gives me a gun, a place to shoot and something to shoot at or with. I pay for it all. Why should I expect the damn government to give me shooting site access for nothing. I wouldn't even want them to.
This is what I have found for you visitors to Texas. If you go to Dairy Queen and buy a shake and a Burger they'll give you an access code and you can use their internet while you're there. Sometimes they even have it going for free. I still get a Root Beer though.

Alan, the only reason I was using a library facility is because I don't have a lap top therefore I must go where all facilities are available. It's not a case of needing a freeby because I would have paid if it had been asked.
