BW, I wanted the rifle to be simple and stout. I bought an NECG front sight but didn't like it so sent it back and got the stout-for-hell XS front. Getting the height for the front correct took a bit of doing but XS makes a little temporary plastic front sight post that can be cut down a notch at a time to give the correct height.

BTW, the barrel is 21"...

Chip, not really working on one yet, more thinking about what next.

It WILL be a 30-06 for sure... have on hand 10lbs H4350, 300 pieces of WW 06 Brass and 450 180 Nosler Partitions laugh

Brad,
I also love that brown Bansner stock!! My favorite gun is wearing one (270 win on rem Ti action, with a Lilja tube).

Brad,
Gotcha, good luck with it! BTW, I picked up a few more pounds of H4350 this week also. And, I found over 300 NP's in my stash. Might have to load some of thes up! grin

Thanks. I am really happy with the way it turned out. It is nice to have a light gun that doesn't have a paper thin barrel. I have a Lija#3 on that gun, so it balances great.

Yeah, that is a real advantage of using the Rem-Ti's. You can certainly put a lot more tube on it.

Hey Poot, nice looking rig there. If you don't mind me asking what's the scope and what does the #3 Lilja mic at the mzl? My last two .270 tubes have been #2 and #1 Lilja's.

Thx
Dober

Hi Dober,
It mics .65" at the muzzle and it is wearing a Leupold VXIII 3.5x10 with a turret on the elevation.

Likes 130 TSX's on top of 55 grains of H4350. Just picked up some 110 grain tipped TSX's for grins. I am curious if I can get em to shoot. Have you tried the 110s yet in your 270?

I have tried the 110's in several 270's Poot, they seem to shoot ok. Back in the mid 70's to mid 80's I only had a 270 and used it for all that moved. I used the 90 and the 110 Sierra a whole lot for various volunteers...grin

I'll have to find my load data but I am fairly sure that I ran both H4831 and H4350 with the 110 TSX's out of my old 22" M77 tube.

My present Lilja tube is a #1 cut to 23" (on my G33/40)and it really likes H4350. I'll have to look up the exact load but it seems to me it's like 54 of H4350 and a 130 and it goes about 3125 or so. At first I'd been using more H4350 but toned it down a bit to the 31 level even though I wasn't seeing any pressure sigs.

So, I'd be interested to hear what your tube runs the 55 load at?

I kind of figured your tube had to be in and around .65 as the tube b4 the one I have on the G33 now was a #2 and I thought it went at .62" at the mzl.

What is the weight of that stock and which scope are you running? It almost looks to my eyes like it's a 30 mm?

Thx
Dober

Hi Dober,
Thanks for the info. With 55G of H4350 I am also right at about 3100 fps with no signs of pressure problems, but I think I am getting close because I did try 56 grains and I had a slight ejector mark on the brass. That was with a 130 swift scirocco that I had that happen at 56 grains. With a 130 TSX at 56 grains it is still smooth sailing(or so it appears).........those bands milled into the TSX must help reduce pressure a bit.

Here is a target with the 130 TSX

The scope is a 1" tube not a 30mm. I don't know what the stocks weighs off the top of my head, but I bet it is in the 24 ounce range.
