Ten years ago I purchased an R-7 for my boys to plink with around the farm. I scoped it with a 4X Bushnell airgun scope and it provided hours of fun for the boys (not to mention their dad.)

Well the oldest now 20, just took the rifle off to control birds at his work, and I find that I need, er, my younger son needs, another one for duty around the house. While there is no question that I will buy another R-7, scoping it poses new questions. My eyes, er, my son's eyes aren't as young as they used to be, so I wonder if I should increase the power?

I also keep hearing about a scope called the Bug Buster? What is that? I guess the old reliable two piece Beeman mounts are still the way to go?

All advice is appreciated and I, er, my son, awaits your replies! laugh

Bushnell Sportsman 3X9 with adjustable objective aint a bad way to go. I just picked one up at a local Gander, clearance bin for $50.

I have a Busnell 3.5X10X36 AO on my R-7. Works pretty good. I have wondered about a bug buster also, sighting down to 3 yards would be fun in the basement. My Busnell goes down to 10 yards but is still a bit blurred at 8 yards in my basement. Be sure to put whatever scope you choose in good mounts.

Have a Bushnell 4 x 32 and really love it. I'm not sure of the model. I can't seem to see it listed on the scope.

The old rifle has a Bushnell 4X air rifle scope with adustable objective but I don't see them listed anymore. The current R-7 Double Gold comes with a Bushnell 4X12 but a version can be had with mounts but no scope. Since I have the very same scope, I'm gonna order that version. Perhaps I'll get a bug buster later If I can find who has them.

I have a R1 and the 2 piece mounts are very nice, I have an older burris 4x air rifle scope on it now but ran a 3-9-40 burris ff2 for a few years with no problems
