I can't speak to 85's as I've only held them and looked them over, I have several 75's and in general sakos are on top of the heap (joined by a couple others)in a factory rifle. They have a great reputation for accuracy, the metal work is well done and they always seem to function. Their syn. stocks although functional, lag behind in the looks dept. My finnlight is a well balanced rig that has accounted for alot of animals I'm sure the 85 finnlight would serve you well.Have you looked at the sako website for the stats?

Same with me, I dont have an m85 but have a few Sako m75ss and Greywolf rifles. Superior rifles. I prefer the stock on the m75 over the m85.

My 85 (Synthetic Stainless - 7lbs) in 375H&H is the finest factory rifle I have ever owned.

They are good.
Awesome trigger, slick action, smooth barrel. The plastic stock could be better but it works fine from various setups(bipod, bags, knees etc..) hot or cold.

I've owned a few Myself and Sam is right. In My opinion Sako's are in the top two or three factory rifles available...I don't have a thing against the stock, I never could see the reason in going out and spending several hundred bucks on another stock. Hell for what some guy's spend on an aftermarket stock I could buy a another whole rifle, but to each his own. I do have a problem with Sako's cheesy slide on and secure with a set screw scope mounting system that they came up with, the best ones are made by Sako but they are outrageously high, I can't get a scope even near low enough for me when I've tried the Opti-Loks. Those European dudes must use some monster objectives on their scopes is all I can figure, anyway Sako is way out of touch with the American hunter when it comes to this.......Good luck..........547.

Craig, a 44mm objective with BC's is perfect for the OL's. A long neck works good too...(grin)

I have tried the low Opti-Loks but they were still way too high. Sako makes an Opti-Lok in what they call an Xtra low height but I've never seen any for sale and I have looked, but not in a while now, you might find some. To really get low enough for My taste I had to go with Talley's and I thought these mounts looked even less secure than the Sako Opti-Loks do. (slide on system with no recoil lug and two little set screws to hold them in place)......................547.

I have the 85 Finnlight in .300 WSM. Hunted with it for about 4 weeks total, killed several things. Probably the finest factory rifle I have ever owned. Light, great fit and finish, accurate, shoots whatever I feed it. Mine has Warne rings, no trouble so far.
Biggest complaint is it feeds so smooth that you have to look to make sure it chambered.

We had some Finnlights that sat at my local SW for a couple of years, they finally blew them out at 1100 bucks out the door.
Wish I had bought one!
