Ok, I don't know what the rules are here on posting about things that are up for auction, so I'll be as general as I can. There is a Savage 1899 in .25-35 on gunbroker right now that blew me away. I'd love to get it, but alas, it costs almost as much as my last car did. You guys have to go see it. The engraving and checkering are unbelievable. I drooled over it for at least 10 minutes.

Not surprising that I missed the tread. I've been off for a while. But I stumbled on that one and just had to make sure you guys knew about it.

I think our discussion scared many potential buyers away. I was a lot more interested when I first saw it. The discussion here was very educational.

The picture of it that shows the shadowing above the serial number where either someone's initials or numbers were is it's achilles heal. Everything starts to unravel after looking at that when your talking $17K range. At what $$ number it starts to not mean too much is anyone's guess.

Not quite an 1899...but it's predecessor...an 1895...

When it comes to choosing friends....I'm at an age where I'd rather have 4 quarters than 100 pennies.
