I picked up some brass @ the range today it is marked 5.7X 28. Since I have an Encore I thought this would be an awesom caliber to load for. In the pistol caliber I thought the 10" to 12" Encore would be great then the 16.5" carbine would be even better for varmints @ 100 yards and closser. Whatcha think?

the FN 5.7x28mm is a very lightweight pistol used in foreign countries, and it has an awesome reputation for armor piercing rounds, and the fact that it can hold 20 rounds in a standard magazine.
look it up on google. its pretty neat. i think the whole thing weighs like 32 ozs loaded.

i have also shot one of these at a machine gun shoot i was working at. there is almost no recoil, and it was very accurate, but it lack a bit in the power department for my tastes.

ironegal 84 It is the same Dia as the .224 I thought this would be a great varmint stomper in the 10"& 12" Encore and a good long range Varmint basher at 150 to 200 yards under the right condititions. I can see a 40 or 45 gr bullet @ pretty good velocity's for varmints and such.

My wife has a PS90 5.7x28. It's a fun little round. 34 & 40 gr bullets in factory ammo. Very little recoil and easy to control. Since I shoot gophers & PD's at 200 yds with a .22LR I would think the 5.7x28 would be good at least that far.
It's a 40gr bullet at 2300fps in a carbine.

I have a pistol and rifle in this caliber. I liken it to a centerfire .22 magnum. Armor piercing ammo is no longer available. A fun round to play with but if I had it too do all over again a .22 magnum would suffice.

There is an Upper for that round at the local toy store. It is calling my name.
Apparently, it is the Ultimate Sage Rat tool.
