Owned 2 firechickens back in high school. Political correctness states I can't say what we said POINTIAC stood for.
Otto is my co-pilot.

Well, it's a sedan versus the Mustang being a Coupe, it was meant to be marketed to people that needed a family car, but wanted performance, not as a sports coupe. The quality and engineering of a G8 compared to a Mustang is night and day though, the Holden interiors are about as good as GM has ever produced.
The 2005 GTO I had was built like an M1 tank, it wasn't going to handle like a Mustang or earlier F-Body for that reason, but it also wasn't going to be a rattle trap in 4 years. As an example they used a skid plate under the oil pan/filter that was heavier gauge than the skid plate on my Z-71 Sierra. Holden's are built that way, Germanesque engineering.

Yeah - agree on sedan v coup thing but having a little kid and driving a 2 door 4 speed Tercel at the time - I know how to deal with a 2 door and would select the coupe EVERY time over a "sports sedan". Either have a sports coupe or a sedan - don't do both was my feeling.

That's why I don't have a G8. I'm a coupe guy.

My first car was a '41 flathead 6 Pontiac purchased in the summer of 1953 for $60. I was 13 at the time and could not take my Texas drivers exam until I turned 14 in Oct. Had a heck of a time passing the parallel parking part of the driving exam with that ol big 2 door. Drove it for 2 years and sold it for $60. It had the best sounding AM radio I ever heard in it.
