It's a single shot 3 position target rifle. Approximately 20,000 were made for the US Army, but never used. They are available from CMP for $600.00. Mine is shown with a scope mounted but the rifle is supplied with aperture sights with interchangeable inserts. Trigger is adjustable for over-travel, sear engagement and weight. Many have decent to very nice wood. Best groups so far are just under .5" @ 50 yards but I haven't yet had a nice calm day to shoot. here's a pic:

Very nice rifles. I bought one from CMP a few years back, but foolishly sold it. Along with the H&R M12 and the Rem 40x 22LR rifles I also sold....

My club has gone crazy for these, and we have started an informal bencrest match on the 4th Monday each month. About 8 of us have them, and we have gotten groups close to 1/4 inch for 10 shots at 100 yards with Lapua Midas L, Eley Tenex, etc. OTher guys shoot Anschutz, older Remington target rifles, etc. We have fun. You cannot beat the price from the CMP for a rimfire of this quality! The wood on mine is good, but does not have teh figure of yours or some of the others at my club.
