I have a Ruger tang safety action ( some people call them Mark1) long action ( 30-06). I have a chance to buy a Ruger Mark11 barrel, 30-06.

I would think the threads are the same, that a smith could screw the barrel on, head space it, & I'm good to go.

my question, are the threads of the barrels of Rugers the same for the tang safety action, as the Mark11.

Yes the barrel threads are the same. I had my gunsmith remove a barrel from a Mk-II in 7x64 Brenneke, and fit it to a tang safety round top. Now I have the only tang safety in 7x64 in existences. .

Why change barrels? Is there a problem with the M77 tang barrel?
