I just purchased a new Model 70 Extreme Weather in 30-06. What do I have to do properly shoot the barrel in? What cleaning prduct do you recommend for Stainless Steel rifles?
Thanks.

To properly break in:

Load. Sight in. Shoot.

Done.

Cleaning is done with whatever you normally use, as frequently (or infrequently) as you determine necessary.

There's no voodoo to it.

Wha VAnimrod said. If you shoot and clean your barrel normally it will be "broken in" soon enough.

The voodoo of "proper break-in" was started by benchrest shooters who wanted their barrels to be shooting their best before going into a formal match. Whether or not it makes much difference even then is still debatable.

But you will never see any substantial difference in accuracy in a factory hunting rifle by using any of the "break-in" methods suggested in various places.

Just make sure it's actually clean before you shoot it. The amount of gunk you can get out of new factory barrels can be startling.

That sounds like a very nice rifle.
Let me know how it shoots. Great caliber and a rifle for all purposes and conditions.
Great choice if it shoots !
