Don't know them, but very interesting photos. Thanks for sharing.

The guy on the right in the last sepia-colored picture, crouching below the deer on the swing set, looks a lot like Elmer.

Granted, the fellow you are talking about where's a hat like Elmer's and has a cigarette in his mouth in much the same way, I don't believe that's Elmer.

None of my family shown, but they are using the same guns many of my family members used.
Cool photos!

Great pix! Thanks for posting them. I get a huge kick out of looking at the guys and what they used for hunting in those days. The rifles all look to lever guns.

Very cool Savages. The guy in the first and second black and white pictures - what cartridges do you suppose those are in his belt? They don't look like a .250 or .300 Savage, might could be .30-30's. .303 Savage, perhaps? That would have been right for the era.

Looks like late 1920's to me, It would be easier if you could have gotten the Lic plate number and State. Then you could run down the plate. Lever guns were very popular with hunters from there advent to the late 1930's when bolt guns started ruling the roost.

Grogel: That last photo is pre-1920, I'm certain. Very interesting choice of hunting clothes. A three-piece business suit and a bowler hat! He must have been hunting on his lunch break. And why on earth did he roll the bib overalls up to the knees? That's got to be pretty uncomfortable as well as counterproductive. He's about to lose the crease in his trousers. At least he loosened the tie. - Tom

Our local Gander Mountain has old time hunting pix of the walls around the store. They're blown up large size, and I probably spend more time looking at them than I do shopping. Their choice of hunting clothing back then is just awesome; bowler hats, white shirts and neck ties, knickers, and no gloves. Every one of the guys in the pix has a wide brim hat on. Today, if anyone was caught outside hunting with hats like they wore, everyone would be making fun of them. But, there's no making fun of the artillery they used..Savage 99's. Actually, Savage would be well served to use some of those pix for their ads today. Kind of looks like, if you ain't shootin' a 99, you ain't nothin'.
