I just received the 10x42 Leica Geovid HDs that I bought from Doug before Leica cancelled the rebate on the HD models.I am very impressed with the Geovids,as they are certainly superior to the 10x40 Zeiss Classics that I have been using for the past 16 years. They are very clear and bright, and the fact that the rangefinder is built in is a great time saving feature. The only negative is that the Geovids are a little heavier than most other binoculars, but they are no heavier than other binoculars plus a separate laser rangefinder.I live in Northern Alberta, and the binoculars were in my hands in two weeks,so Doug provided excellent service in shipping them out so quickly. Now I just need to wait for Doug to send me a rebate form,so that I can get the rebate back from Leica.

Two friends own the Leica Geovids, and both range very quickly and accurately.I owned a Leica 1200 rangefinder myself, and it was very accurate,

Whats the published weight of them?
I think if you compared them to say a set of Swarovski 7x42 SLC's they are only a touch heavier..
There are certainly lighter bino's out there, but of those, very few will have the optical quality of the Leica, and none of will have a range finder as well..
