i have brass, 200 gr. remmy boolits, primers, and several types of powders.
i want to reload some rounds up for my marlin 336.

who's using what combo.

may want to throw some lead at a cow elk this year, so a stout load would be nice.

thanks all.

Factory 200 gr loads run around 1900 fps.
A compressed load of 3031 will be 39 to 40 gr.
This load will deliver over 2300 fps.
pressures calculate around 45 KPSI
Good Luck

I've tried a few different loads in a Marlin 336. I settled on 40 grains of TAC. A few others did well too, H4895 and IMR 4064 & 3031.

First, I'll say be careful with the load suggesting 48.5 gr. of IMR 4895. I seriously doubt you'd ever get any where near that much in the case, but that's 12 gr. over the MAX load on the IMR website.

I've read that Varget is a good powder for the 35 Remington but I haven't used it. If you want better info on Varget try the 336 forum at marlinowners.com. I've used mostly H4895, IMR3031, RL7, and H335. With my 18" 35LTD I have been able to get velocities between 2100 fps and 2200 fps with those powders, which is slightly above book MAX, using a 20" barrel. H4895 and H335 have been the most accurate for me.

I have loaded RL7 for close to 20 years, I believe 33 grains. Doesn't fill the case all the way but I printed a 5 shot 1.25" group at 100 yds and the deer die real dead with a 200 gr RN. I have also loaded some 4064 with good accuracy. The 35 Rem is a great woods range deer round. Mild recoil and excellent penetration.

I've loaded up with Varget, 29 grs with Rem 200gr bullets. Shoots accurately in my Marlin. I have yet to get the chrono out for it but the accuracy is certainly there.

48.5 IMR4895 in a 35 Rem??????? Are you sure about that?

Maybe in a 358 Win. And easily done in a Whelen.

And, in all of this we get a clear example of what a "pet load", for anything, is worth. Nothing...

I was shooting my Savage 35 remington pump last night, I use 38.5 grains of IMR 4895 and Sierra 200 grain round nose, I kid you not, it was cutting holes every time with 10 shots. With 10 shots there was one big hole a little bigger than a quarter

Try 39 grains of IMR 4064 with a Sierra 200 gr RN, work real good for me in my Marlin 336.
