Back in the hospital again with the ole kidneys. I cant sleep so thank God for the internet.....well, that and the cheetos. Cheetos are good in the middle of the night when you should be sleeping. Course, the damn nurses wont let me sleep. I finally told them that if I needed them I would call.....otherwise, consider me on autopilot. I have seen every infomercial on the TV tonight that has ever been created. I also learned that being a patient where you work creates a revolving door to your hospital room. The food is adequate at best and the bed can be best described as prison grade. Hopefully..I will be out of here soon......................

It's just past 6AM here in NJ.The conditions you describe are pretty much what I've experienced over the years in three different supposedly top of the line hospitals in NYC and NJ.Hope things start going much more positively for you soon.

Familiar with all the hospitals in B'ham from selling critical care there. Also had 2 back surg's at HealthSouth and 2 kids born at St V. I'm an impatient patient too. But good luck to you and Godspeed. Take all the night-time meds and enjoy the attention.

Kat, I've been wondering how things are going for you, and now this. Hopefully, you'll be parolled soon. Of course, you know the prevailing wisdom: the only patients that are worse than nurses are doctors. Get well soon, kid.

Kat, so sorry to hear you are back in the hospital, just use you masterful Nurse skills to control those painmongers you work with. Oh yeah, and infomercials will rot your brain. If you start having fantasies of Billy Mays start to worry.
Back in the heartland, Thank God!

Kat,
Bummer that you're back in the confined spaces of the old workplace. Hospitals aren't a good place to get rest in my experience. Hope you are there just for some med "tweaking". You will come out OK - yer too ornery to do anything else. Think of you often and will continue to say prayers for your full recovery. God bless . . .

Sorry to hear, hope you get out soon. Sure explains why you didn't keep our coffee date, after I drove all the way down from Canada for a cup of good coffee.

Thanks guys. My docs just came in and told me that I can probably go home tomorrow!
When employees are admited to the hospital, we get "vip" status. I guess the administration figures that the least they can do is care for its own in a comfy room. Anyway......in the suite that Im in, there is a refrigerator that is adjacent to a sofa. I finally drift off to sleep when SUDDENLY.....I am awakened by something that sounds like a pipe bomb. I jolt out of the bed, nearly de-accesing my portacath, with a yell only to realize...........

Some humor for you. Toward the end of their senior year in high school, students were required to take a CPR course. The classes used the well known mannequin victim, Rescue Anne, to practice.
Rescue Anne was legless to allow for storage in a carrying case.
The class went off in groups to practice. As instructed, one of the students gently shook the doll and asked, "Are you all right?" He then put his ear over the mannequin's mouth to listen for breathing.
Suddenly, the student turned to the instructor and exclaimed, "She says she can't feel her legs!"
Don't make the nurse angry. A big shot business man had to spend a couple of days in the hospital. He was a royal pain to the nurses because he bossed them around just like he did his employees.
None of the hospital staff wanted to have anything to do with him. The head nurse was the only one who could stand up to him. She came into his room and announced, "I have to take your temperature."
After complaining for several minutes, he finally settled down, crossed his arms and opened his mouth.
"No, I'm sorry, the nurse stated, "but for this reading, I cannot use an oral thermometer." This started another round of complaining, but eventually he rolled over and bared his rear end.
After feeling the nurse insert the thermometer, he heard her announce, "I have to get something. Now you stay JUST LIKE THAT until I get back!"
She leaves the door to his room open on her way out. He curses under his breath as he hears people walking past his door laughing. After almost an hour, the man's doctor comes into the room.
"What's going on here?" asked the doctor.
Angrily, the man answers, "What's the matter, Doc? Haven't you ever seen someone having their temperature taken?"
After a pause, the doctor confesses, "Well, no. I guess I haven't. Not with a carnation anyway."
