when i was a kid my dad made some worm beds to keep nightcrawlers in . has anybody made these? what do i use for "dirt" "feed"

My FIL had one and my Grandpa always had them when I was a kid.

Papaw had an elevated plywood box with plywood top. You can feed them newspaper and corn meal. My FIL had a plastic tub with a plywood lid sitting on blocks inside a larger tub full of water. The water was to keep ants away from the worms, but Papaw never had ant problems with his elevated bed either.

Best thing to put them in is cow manure mixed with rich top soil. You want a dense moisture rich soil bed. Can't have too much cow manure

Don't know if those are the best, but they worked.

toss your old coffee grounds in once in a while too.

temperture for nightcrawlers is the important thing ,cool ,cool cool lol the food is just organic ,corn meal,coffee grounds,shreded paper, vegitable matter. when the bed is used up take out the worms and eggs and then start over with new bed and use the casings in your garden or sell them. good luck

go to the dump and get an old refrigrator put peet moss dirt and sum lawn clipping in it.feed coffee grounds(used)and cornmeal.
play a little Barry White and pretty soon u got alot of bait...
