Well my Fenwick HMX rods that I have had for a little over 7 years now have been taken by some stupid little thieving F@#!.
I am now looking for new rods and am looking for opinions on what to get. I also need new reals two spinning reals and two bait cast. I have been looking at the Browning Medallion for spinning and the Browning Midas for bait cast, any other good Ideas.

I own both and am partial to the St Croix Avid. I would look at Shimano reels. See this post for some good discussion: http://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/topics/3108540#Post3108540Here's a picture of my 6'6" Med Light with Shimano Sahara. A little heavy for the fishing I was doing but still gave me plenty of sensitivity and control.

I use Fenwick Techna AV rods exclusively. You can buy them on Ebay for the retail price of a HMG....sometimes.

I have both, have had both, and use both, but the Avid is what I prefer....YMMV
Shimano is tough to beat for reels of just about any flavor right now.

Got me a Fenwick Ultralite with an old Mitchel[?]308 reel, actually bought 2 reels at a garage sale in Bishop, Ca. years ago. And this is pretty much what I use to this day up in the Eastern Sierra's. The action is great, and I always get some of those tasty natives! oh boy!! Tom

I have the Avid and would recommmend it. I pretty much only use Shimano spinning reels and I've always been happy with them. THey have so many models at each price point that its hard not to find one that won't work out for you.

If either one of you find him a good thrashing with either rod (Fenwick or St Croix) would probably teach him a lesson. When my house was broken into 3 years ago I lost quite a bit of stuff but no fishing rods. Idiots probably wouldn't have known how to use them anyhow. I hate a thief!
