Hi Folks,

I've been doing some load work up for a .25/06 Weatherby Vanguard VGS I got in a recent trade. In the process I struck on a real gem.

52.2 grains of IMR 4350 w/ 90 grain Sierra GKHP and a CCI BR primer is averaging about .350 for 3 shots. Since I haven't replaced the chronograph I fragged about 3 weeks ago I haven't clocked it yet. If the manual speed are reasonably accurate (3300fps from a 26 in barrel) I should be getting about 3150-3200 out of the Weatherby's 24 in. snout.

The only problem I have now is that my Ol' Grayhaired pappy has taken a real shine to the rifle and I may have a hard time keepin it

Good Shooting,

HBB

I have owned several 25-06`s and find them a gem. They shoot exceptional.

Sounds like you have a great load there. The 2506 is a hard rifle to beat when you have on that shoots and most of them do. Good luck keeping the rifle if the old man wants it.

Well the .25/06 is gone. Ol' Pappy just couldn't get along without it.

But considering how many years he fed me, clothed me , and put up with my BS during the teenage phase, as well as all the good hunting, shooting, and life training he gave me, a rifle is a small price to pay.

What worries me now is that the Ol' Buzzard is eyeing my new .204 Ruger

Even though I dearly love and respect him. He ain't a glommin on to this one without a fight. . .or at least the combination of a certain hyper accurate .270 and a cute little .17 Remington he has in the gun safe

Good Shooting,
