I just discovered it this weekend and have mine ordered. For a guy with no TV and who likes to read it's the cat's meow so far as I can tell. Can't wait until Tuesday to get mine.

I've thought about one, especially with all the traveling I've been doing. I have seen lots of folks on planes with them. Let me know whatcha think of it.

I want one but I do like the feel of a book.

I have been looking at those for some time... no high speed cell phone coverage in my area... the discription about the use of a USB cable seems to suggest that it can only be used for audio files... not text.... be interested to hear how you like your though.

Give us a product report, I want one too. Although I like the feel of a book they look too convenient.

I've looked at my brother's and it's text and it has audio capabilities as well. It has a dictionary that you can access when you run across a word that you don't know its meaning. I don't think you have to plug it into anything to download a book but am not sure how it does that unless it's like my air card for my internet connection through Alltel. I got the smaller version and it will hold over 1,500 books. They have a DX version. Go to amazon.com and check them out.

You can get them direct from kindle.com and, for example, the complete works of Mark Twain is 5 bux. No book is over $9.99 and most are somewhere around $7 or so. They download in one minute.

Go to amazon.com and click on kindle and then the tab that describes the books. A paperback costs that much these days.

I have had my Kindle for over a year and it is the only way i read books these days. I love mind and you will like the option of increasing test size and the Kindle also bookmarks the page when you quit reading and when you turn it back on it goes back to the page you where last reading. When you down load a book it takes only a couple of Min's. You will like it.

my wife has had one since they came out and loves it....she's got hundreds of books on there. you can skip between books and it saves your place....you can access the book from another device and it moves your place marker in the kindle (how do it know?). the cyber-Books are way cheaper than buying a physical book....lots of great stuff is now in the public domain so you can get it for a buck or two.

oh, and its backlit so you can read in bed without a nightlight.

very cool device.

I use the Kindle application on my iPod Touch and it is fantastic even with my very small screen. I can download books anywhere I've got a wireless internet connection and it definately saves time and money. Plus, you can get books the day they are released. You don't have to wait, go to a bookstore or pay the hardback price. I think you'll really like it.

I got my wife one too. I don't think we've had a real conversation since. She just reads and reads and reads! She loves being able to download books anywhere that there is cell phone signal. Many of the books are under $5 or even free!

She REALLY likes it!

I understand the general concept, but I am not familiar with the execution. Is it flash memory? A hard drive? Can you back it up for the inevitable crash?
