Just wanted to let eveyrbody on the boards know that Walter Birdsong passed away yesterday morning from a heart attack that occured Tuesday evening. For those of you who don't know who Walter Birdsong is, he owns Birdsong Coating which does teflon coating on guns and is most popular for its Black T coating. He was a great man and he will be missed!

He was a total gentleman on the phone and spoke at length with me about the product and was quite interested in what I had done to date.. Damn.. This is NOT good news.. I'm so very sorry to hear of this loss.. RIP..

I have a rifle in their shop right now and I know that the business will continue to operate. His son has been running production for some time.

...I spoke with Walter on the phone several times some years ago when he coated a Remington 721 for me. Walter was indeed a most honorable man and I was very pleased that he got Gov't. contracts on his Teflon coating processes that secured an admirable lifestyle for his family. GOD speed Walter, and prayers for his family.

I'm sorry to hear the news. I have spoken at length with Walter on several occasions. He was a true southern gentleman. He did two of my rifles - excellent work. Hope the family continues the business.

I am just noticing this topic. I, too, am sorry to hear the bad news. While I've never spoken to him, years ago I had sent a 358 BLR to get teflon coated. He did a great job and I was very pleased. It's a great loss anytime a true professional like Mr. Birdsong passes.

Sad news indeed, Walter convinced me over the phone to try his coating and I'm glad I did. He was a true gentleman and a heck of a nice guy. Godspeed to you Mr Birdsong.
That's ok, I'll ass shoot a dink.
