Not only have they underestimated the bear population and overestimated the deer population Thaey have decided to redefine firearms. They are trying to put into law that rail guns are not to be used for hunting. I think someone watched Transformers.

I think they should do their jobs of managing game first and look at firearms second, after all firearms pay alot of the budget for them.

i dont question thier authority on the subject... i question thier judgment.

IF someone could produce a feasible 8 pound railgun that could be hunted with why would they NOT allow it.
Quote
Railguns are being pursued as weapons with projectiles that do not contain explosives, but are given extremely high velocities: 3500 m/s (11,500 ft/s, approximately Mach 10 at sea level) or more (for comparison, the M16 rifle has a muzzle speed of 930 m/s, or 3,050 ft/s. . Also, by firing at higher velocities railguns have greater range, less bullet drop and less wind drift, bypassing the inherent cost and physical limitations of conventional firearms.

Because they can.. In the DNR's little mind, rail guns are evil.. And, by enacting this law it gives them another avenue of control.. Why? I don't know.. They already have more power than the governor..

The WI DNR is as out of control as the BATFE. It is an amazing thing to see them in action, & while I know some very good people who are employed by them, the JBT attitude by so many is how the agency is viewed and acts, overall.

I just can't comprehend how my home state voters can do what they do, every year. It's just painful to watch.

What?!!! The WI DNR underestimated the bear population and overestimated the deer population? But they're the model of proficiency that all others states admire - just read any document when they justify their rationale. grin grin

They should continue to strive to get to mediocrity on the populations and science before delving into yet another area they know very little about. wink

WI DNR has literally no oversight. Not answerable to anyone. Not the legislature, not the governor, as stupid as he is, and not the State Supreme Court. Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

WI DNR is a bureaucracy run amok. As long as they have no oversight, they will continue to enact all kinds of stupid regs and over/under estimate game to fit their agenda. They don't like bear hunting so they underestimate the numbers to cut down on the number of hunters and increase the number of bears. They want to destroy deer hunting in the state so they overestimate the number of deer, decimating the herd to discourage new hunters. They love the snail darter, garter snakes, butterflys and birds so they can shut down and/or regulate development.

Things won't change until their oversight changes.

The scary part of what you wrote is to "discourage new hunters"

WI graduates 25-30,000 people from hunters safety every year. Where do they go? There aren't that many new hunters buying liscenses each year. The numbers are dropping each year. There are 100's of instructors that would like to know what the hell is going on.

I forgot one:

They will fine some poor farmer for a little cow poop running in a creek, but won't even bat an eye when the City of Milwaukee dumps millions of gallons of untreated sewage into Lake Michigan. Then they tell us that the high bacteria count in the lake is caused by seagull droppings.

Don't vote for me for governor. I am not running. I can't afford the pay cut. Vote Scott Walker. He would be better at it than me anyway.

So is a 257 Wby a rail gun?

We may know the time Ben Carson lied, but does anyone know the time Hillary Clinton told the truth?
