My favorite cartridge for deer has always been the 270 Win and I currently have a Rem 700 and Marlin XR-7 that have seen blood and are VERY accurate but this year I'm hoping to use a new kid on the block. My latest addition is quickly becoming my favorite rifle. I REALLY love shooting this gun and can't wait to take a deer with it!!
Biden's most truthful quote ever came during his first press conference, 03/25/21. Drum roll please...... "I don't know, to be clear." and THAT is one promise he's kept!!!

I have two I call favorites. One is my savage 110 in 3006. With which I took two deer with last season. My other favorite is my sporterized Mauser in 8x57. I took a nice little 6 point 2 seasons ago with this one at a little over 200 yards. Those old 185 remington bullets hit like a freight train. I have a mauser action sitting here on my counter I have been trying to figure out what I want my new favorite to be. Was thinking 6mm remington. the buks down here are not monsters. they do get over 200# but not made of iron. so i was thinking maybe 6mm or 257 bob. I do like the x57 case. hope this link works. the bottom is my savage the middle is the mauser and the top is my 300 win mag. who has not even been the the woods as of yet. this is the 6 point i got with the 8mm in '07

I try to use a different rifle/cartridge each year. These two are on deck. The 99/300 Savage will be a rare repeat use, while the sharps will be a first timer. jay

Hey SC
That's a fine looking rig. I'm liking the smaller calibers, too, lately.
That stock could use some yellow paint though.

This is my stock Remington 700 Classic in 35 Whelen caliber. I think it is the only rifle I own that hasn't been glass bedded. It will lay the 250 gr Speer in one ragged hole at 100 yds! It will be going black bear hunting in about a month. The gap between the front tines is only 2.5" on this little 11 pt rack. whelennut
I like to do my hunting BEFORE I pull the trigger! There is only one kind of dead, but there are many different kinds of wounded.

Kimber Montana in 7-08 has been very good to me in recent years... Have Faux Ti's in 243 and 7-08 that I really like as well... Have a few with some other rifles, but I think these are the best of those taken with the favorite... DJ

I shoot 4 different rifles.. I used to use an old 760 in 30-06 dad gave me.. it sits now... hell no blueing on it in many places... I have a Savage 110 7-08 which is now at gunsmith being changed to a 7WSM custom Tika T3 which I love in 243 R25 in 243 which is my new go to gun... It is super accurate.. and lastly, an Encore tricked out in 300win mag.
Spent my whole life in the Army dealing with Recoil on heavy weapons and I have found that deer and bear hit properly with the 243 ask no questions.
