Avagadro,
Ahh!, I forgot where I post the mass spec questions. I'm not familiry with SIMS. Heck, I don't get to touch the mass specs we have now.
Question for you. Do you or are you going to handload for your rifle/caliber?

SIMS is a more specialized surface technique (Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry) ... Basically shoot an energetic ion at a surface and measure what is sputtered off.
Its kinda cool ... I get to shoot a $250,000 gun that shoots gold bullets into stuff for fun!
I think I know have all the stuff I need for reloading, now all I have to do is get the bench organized and start putting stuff together ... I hope to be reloading by September ... its taken over a year to get everything (now its time to save a little money) I'm sure once I get into the process everyone will be seeing this new lil' bugger

If you are not careful after you get your 7-08 dialed in your Weatherby's are going to become lonely.

That'll have to be one seriously dialed in rifle ... ... but then again, I can't see that being a bad thing!

perfomance wise there is no practical difference,,,but I choose the Mauser round,,,for very personal reasons, albeit nonsensical.................. #1) I love the LOOK of the cartridge with the classic 175 gr. rn. load.
#2)I love the recoil impulse of this round/load.
#3) I love the way "7x57" LOOKS written/printed,on the ammo box's,headstamp,,anywhere!!
Add all this AND a Ruger #1A Sporter!!
WHATS NOT TOO LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i FEEL THE SAME WAY ABOUT THE 250 savage AND A FEW OTHERS!!
NO good deed EVER goes unpunished
