It just ain't coon huntin' if the woods aren't faintly illuminated from the flickering glow of a carbide lamp affixed to an ancient, sweat stained canvas cap.

In my experience, COAST led headlights and flashlights have been pretty good. They make some spotlight( rather than floodlight ) type headlights that would be good for finding a coon in tree.

as mentioned, nitelite makes several models that will do ya. i've used them for years. over the years i seem to kill more coons with the "lower" power lights. don't think a coon can't see that powerful beam shining all over the woods. you don't need a wide beam imo, a narrower beam will get you thru the woods and shine the coon just fine. good luck.

This thread brings back memories. It's been over twenty years since my last bluetick passed on and I haven't had any coon hounds since. My old Wheat Light with the heavy, 4-volt wet cell battery still hangs on a hook in the cellar. I've thought over the years that, technology being what it is, there must be something better that's come along since then. What do coon hunters use these days?

Anything other than a carbide lamp with extra carbide in a calumet baking soda can is heresy!!

Used a green lens last week for general observation of deer, possums and coons. Amazing how they were not afraid like a bright white light.
