A lot of the seasoning gets up in there and flavors the "fat" so it's not to be missed.

Nope, but I love the little claws. Takes forever to eat a pile of them, but it keeps me from talking much, and for some reason that seems to be a bonus for others around me crazy grin

I don't exactly know what is in the head, and I don't want to. I do know that it is mighty tasty and that's enough for me.

Pinch the tail Suck on the head! My first business was selling coffee beans and that was years before Starbucks became famous. At the Daytona flea market there was a vendor right across the isle that used to yell that all day long along with;
Honey Dew, Honey Don't. Got a honey that should but won't!
LOL
Of course he was selling melons as well.

Personally I have only sucked the heads of shrimp when we have them, why would anyone pass these up?

Noth'n taste like a crawdaddy cooked in Zatarain's Crab Boil, forget the Lobster and the steam vapors...that crab boil puts the spices in the water that permeate the bodies of d'em mini lobsters!

Rather easy to catch by the sack @ the local seafood market laugh as they are most abundant on rice/crawfish farms these days! In the wild they are very seasonal (spring to early summer)

Never eat a straight tail mud'bug (thats what they always told me) If it don't look or smell good don't eat it!

I've always wondered how a lobster boiled in Zatarain's rather than steamed would come out.

Lobster in Zatarains is OK.
They do pick up the seasoning as a crawfish will.
One of the Casinos in Ms do them that way.
I like Louisiana brand seasoning It does not contain as much salt
as Zatarains.

I was thinking of the liquid so the salt is user supplied in a preferred amount.

I'll second that especially this season with 1.25# Maine or Canadian bugs selling at under $6 a pound retail here. Must suck for the Lobstermen but I'm enjoying it! grin

Sooo if you get a batch of crawdads and they are dead dont eat them? There is a company down there that ships them live,I was just wondering what to look for if i make a purchase of theses, what I need to know.
Can you tell the difference between fresh and frozen?

Yep, you want to kill them yourself with the boiling water.

we usually check for dead one before we boil or purge them
The dead ones are dead, not moving and the tails are srtaight
you can dump them out and walk them to check for dead ones
or just boil all and do not eat the ones with the tails straight.
