IMHO the extra horse power of the 308 over the 300 is only useful on a bear, elk or moose hunt.
The 308f's can be pretty snappy little buggers in the recoil department and all things being equal more expensive to buy than a 300f.
There is no deer in NA that the 300 Savage won't kill graveyard dead.

I think the 308 is over-rated as opposed to the 300.And the 300 is at times under-rated. Yes the 308 can reach a tad further,,But that about it in my humble opinion. The Extra Horse Power of the 308,,the animal will never know the slight bit difference between the 2 carts.  The 300 will do well with all game,,and i have pushed the 300 to 175 to 250 yd shot's out west at mule deer and elk with no problems. Same Bullets used on both and almost same size cases except a 300 is a tad shorter. J.M.O. Steve
