Fricking mice are driving me nuts. They can do all kinds of damage in a car. I bought 4 traps and put 2 each in 2 cars. In 2 days, I've caught 7 of the little $%^&*'s. I don't recommend poison for them in a car. There's an unlimited number of places in a car where they can die and stink for 3 months. I've got a dead one somewhere in a heat duct in my van that I wasn't ever able to find. Every time we turn on the a/c, we smell it for a couple of miles. At least they haven't eaten any wiring...yet.

Yep, fixed a Gleaner combine for a guy a few years back, engine wouldn't crank, and mice had eaten the wiring, repaired it and all was well. The NEXT day, he called and complained "no start". Went back and found mice had eaten through the repair I'd just made!
Mothballs in the cab and around engine work ok to keep them out. There is also a product called "Mouse Out". You spray it on a rag and leave it in the area you wish to repel them from. Many farmers use it around here, and report it works well.
I had the little f^&*ers eat through the plastic blower fan on my work car!

I had them eat through a seat belt once... Later turned on the heater and shredded paper came out. Once they move in it's work to get rid of them.
The glue traps work ok, but occasionally you'll find one where they've chewed off a leg to get off of it.

I'm up to 7 in my daughter's car so far. I have a truck with a nest in the heater duct. When I turn on the air, insulation blows out. Dismantling a heat duct usually involves removing the dashboard. Not a fun task.
