VA... You "stuff" all the things you need to load 'n "feed" your muzzle loader. At the rifle range, I use an old tackle box, but in the woods (while hunting), you need a "possibles bag". I'm looking for one myself because I just bought a Traditions .50 caliber "Shenandoah" flintlock. Strength & Honor... Ron T.
It's smart to hang around old guys 'cause they know lotsa stuff...

Agreed on the tool/tackle box for the range box.
Like I said, I'm looking for "ideas" as to designs, etc.

I use a Crown Coyal bag that goes in my pack while hunting. Same Crown bag goes in an old military type carry along while at the range. Speed loads just go in my pocket on the hunt.

Speed loads go in my pocket too. I shoot an in-line so my bag is tailored toward it. I'll have a T-handle for the ramrod, a good cleaning jag, some cotton patches, and some of the Birchwood Casey Oil wipes in the aluminum pouch, good for the outside surfaces and the bore if you run them in on the jag. I use Bh 209 powder so the only solvent I need is water or saliva. Plus I've UBC'd the bore so I don't worry about that too much. I'll also have a T/C nipple pick to clean the flash hole. Extra primers and a few extra speed loads. Since I shoot a T/C Triumph, I'll carry the little wrench for removing the breech plug, that arrangement renders obsolete the stuff you'd need for a traditional rifle to pull a stuck ball or blow one out with CO2. For the bag I use a Kifaru Pull-out pouch; tough, light as a feather, and comes in different sizes: https://www.kifaru.net/pullouts.html

For my inline i use Lanes Powder tubes. They hold my powder charges and then in a bigger tube i carry bullets/primers. Normally only carry 3 charges + 1 load in the rifle. I used to use speedloaders but got tired of the mess and accidental spills in my pocket.

well here is mine . While in the photo its with my SXS , I use the same rifle bag for all my guns . In side it I keep a patch knife . Ball puller and Tow worm , small flint wallet , vent pick . a set of knapping pliers and a small priming horn and ball starter . I also carry anywhere fro 10 - 15 balls or if in using conical , I carry as many of those . If I go out for a couple days or think I may be out over night then I carry a possibles bag . In that I have my strike alight . Some water purification tables . Normally some jerky , my fishing kit and alittle salt and pepper . A tin cup and my larger skinning knife and about 12 ft of rope . thats about it

One of my 'possibles bag' was made by Coach Leatherware. I got it at a yard sale for 2 bucks. It started out as a woman's white all-leather purse. Some flat black spray paint to camo it up, and it is the one I use when there is snow on the ground during ML season. Yeah, I know. I am probably going homo.

I use an insulated lunch pal ($9.99 Walmart back to school) for the range. It holds everything I need to shoot and clean afterwords. I use speed loaders in the field.

As a range "bag", I use a plastic box with a weather-stripped, hinged lid. It's about a foot tall by 15 inches long by 8 inches wide.
If it's dry weather, I carry a small possibles bag. If it's raining, I often just stick my long starter and a couple quick-loaders in a jacket pocket under my rain gear and hope I don't need anything more.
The possibles bag I use rides on my belt, not a shoulder bag. It's pretty small. It has 2 compartments, bigger, and easier to open, one is in the back. I'll usually carry 5-8 quick loaders, my long starter/palm saver, a 35 mm film can with some tools and stuff (spare nipple, spare wedge pin, cleaning jag, patch puller, and a worm), and a wedge pin hammer / nipple wrench combo tool in that rear pocket. In the front one, I usually carry a very small bottle of solvent (#13) and some cleaning patches.
Sometimes I carry a CO2 discharger, usually not. Sometimes I carry additional powder (4 oz flask), patches and round balls or conicals, but usually not.
When I first got started, I went out and bought all the stuff the books 'n' magazines said I might need. As time passes and I find out I don't actually use it, I stop carrying it.

captchee,
That is a SWEET smokepole man!
I'm not into the "real" primative rifles, but if I could build one like THAT I might be "converted"!
VANR-
I have a camo hip bag w/ a few CVA speedloaders rubber-banded to a ball starter and a baggie w/ 209 primers in it (for speed in reloading), T-handle for ramrod, a little powder horn, measurer, a few extra projectiles, and an optics clothe for the scope. Everything is separate and kept in ziplock baggies in case of inclimate weather.
Lots of room for other stuff, but I keep that in my backpack to make a quick reload easier... I hate diggin' for things when I'm in a hurry, though a second shot has never been needed.

Here is my "Box" that I use when I go to the range. It keeps it all together then I cherry pick out of it to fill my possibles bag when I go hunting.
