I figure we'll just leave the boards dry & unfinished. they look good now that they've dried. I'll try & post a picture or 2 tonight.

Did you just spray them off, or use a cleaning solution like you would for cleaning a deck?

just plain ole well water fed to a gas powered pressure washer. just enough to blow the dust & bird crap off

you never know what you might get on those boards at your camp dave once they're up too. you might want to waterproof the bottom half of the wall cause i heard some dandy stories out there. all good though. funny things come in those aluminum cans you know. are you going to put them up at a 45 or something. that would look good. different directions are neat, bevel the ends of it too. really adds a lot of character as well.

i dunno... might just put em horizontal.

they might end up kind of beer stained after a few good jokes & stories

Rustic is good too. Just check for carpenter ants and termites. Should be OK after all this time but you never know. Guess I'm a little bit of a worrier but that seems to be a product of age! LOL

I finally got around to creating a Photobucket account and i'm going to try to add some pictures of our camp and some of the jumbo perch I caught this summer. I hope this works!!!

T, I wouldn't be smearing beer all over the walls of a deer camp. You'll have more than termites and ants to worry about. LOL

I've just been informed of a new caliber.... well it's all new.

My youngest boy has intro'd me to the 65-40.

That's a darn good question. Why in the hell don't you have a .65-40? What with swamp squids, flying bears, and chicken bucks abounding in your area, I believe the boy needs a reasonably powerful big bore for protection.

Don't have any critters that dangerous in my neck of the woods, so I'm thinkin' about getting a new one a guy down at the barbershop told me about. Said it was a 7.69 x 32 Russian. Said the Commies developed it during the cold war and it would shoot as far as you could see, and that the cheap commie surplus ammo could penetrate tank armor! Oh yeah, they tumble when they hit flesh, so you don't need soft points to kill deers and such. I gotta get me one!

I believe I'd drive from PA to MN and help put up those boards for a bowl of ice cream and berries like that one in the picture.

Ron, those berries & ice cream were great!!

When I was a young man there was a sign in my hometown barber shop that said something to the effect that in that shop there had been more heroic deeds performed,more fish caught,more deer shot and more woman made love to than anyplace else in the world.
The berries and ice cream looked great.They are great in pancakes also.

Well, the trees are marked for cutting. Kinda a shame to cut down 22 nice oak trees, but there area plenny more. I will post pics soon.

Good thunk on the blaze orange on the blind, I dunno if'n I'd a thunk of that or not.

My dad just took my fifth wheel to WE fest. He got $600 VIP tickets for free. I have never been there, but is sounds like fun.

Lauren was just down at the dock terrorizing the local sunfish population. She sure likes living at the lake. Rained here this morning, a good, gentle, soaking rain. Supposed to be 94 here on Tues, oh, I am not looking forward to that.

Nice Perch! 13 1/2 inches is a nice one! They produce a legit fillet at that size.

ND, you should maybe take a small part of one of dem dar boards and experiment with some stain/clear coatings and see if you like how they look. It will be SOOO much easier to do it before you put them on rather than deciding to do it later.

Yumm. I've had a bowl of that with my kids about 3 time a week since bb's have been in the stores. Good stuff

well if you can swing a scouting trip in the next few weeks you can sample some of the fresh wild chickenbuck variety.

It's August already and time to start hanging or repairing deer stands for this year. Here are some pictures from our 2008 archery season and a few velvet bucks from this summer. And yes, the velvet 10point in the first photo is the same deer my son Pat took on opening day last year, as seen in the second photo. The third picture is Pat and I with our opening day bucks taken 15 minutes apart. We were incredibly lucky that day (and incredibly tired by the time those pictures were taken)!
