I was waiting for somone to bring up my beak shot. I couldn't tease pam for her beak shot on that paper chickenbuck because.... well..... ok, ok, it's not as bad as it looks.. I followed up promptly with a boiler room shot that put her down quickly. it was a very difficult sittuation, well over 200 yds, she wouldn't stop for me, deflective cover between us... arg.. a memorable hunt for sure.

Dave, For your boys safety on your CO Elk hunt you may wish to have him practice shots on running game. You never know if that cougar is going to come back to finish what it nearly started. Practice on chipmonks. They're quick, agile, and are also known to charge on occasion.

Dat one looks yummy Dave! I did a beak shot on an Eland in Africa some years ago...first shot was spot on, but the critter took off at a high lope, decided to follow up with a lead of just in front of his nose... my boolit was faster than I thought! Got there a little soon, but he decided to give up about then anyway... My wife got a cow tag this year, and wants to go kill one, so I am encouraging her ( and her brother, who is younger and more eager) to go get it...no beak shots!!! Ingwe

the little guy will be by my side the entire time, don't think I forgot about that nasty cat for one minute even in the tent at night he'll be right next to the ole man & I'll probably have a sidearm real close. I'll be his guide, we'll do our best to fill his tag first then we'll worry about mine. good thinkin on the squirrel practice though, although he'd probably not be interested in that sort of thing...

12 year old daughter of my son's buddy drew a cow elk tag this year in Oregon. Bet both of you get your elk.

Now here's something we don't have to worry about in the mid west. Shark warnings have been issued for Sea Side OR and other nearby coastal waters. Sharks were sited at Sea Side and a 12 foot Great White was caught at Depot, Or.

My boys are scaring the hell out of me, they are watching BMX motocross with guys jumping their bikes and doing flips etc.
Now they want one of the little ones to go out trail riding.
WTH. I know nothing about these things except how to bag the drivers, any experience thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Motor Bikes, when I addressed the thought to the mama she started speaking in tounges and a small tornado developed in our living room.
Seriously I have no clue about motor bikes where to start or anything, but the boys are interested in it and I want them to experience what captures their attention.
Where do you start?

How big are they?
My dad bought my son a motoX of some sort recently. He's a bit small for it now. I'm guessing it is about 80 cc or so. It goes a little too fast for me to let a 4yr old ride. I bet I can get it to 40mph...to fast for a little guy.
They make them down to about a 50cc I think. dave would be you resident expert on this.

yeah first off would be understanding your boys's age.
definately suggest something out of the 4 stroke offerings with a click shift (no hand clutch) for learning. I suggest the 50cc honda for ages up to 10 depending on the kids physical size of course then the 70cc honda from there up & after that you will be your own expert.
the honda 4 strokes are bulletproof & have very mild manors as far as bikes go, very lazy, easy going & easy on gas.

They are 8 and 9 good sized kids (80 and 86 lbs.) for their age. After the heart scare a couple weeks ago I told myself I needed to get on this project.
I was thinking some nice and easy for them to work into bigger bikes as they get accustomed to riding.
Some good friends have gravel pits the boys can ride in on weekends so its a fairly safe place.
