I was looking on the internet and found this website. I have a Savage Model Rifle that says Savage Model 1899. I am looking to find its value and possible sell it. Are you able or do you know someone who can give me some advice on finding the value of my gun and maybe the best way to locate a gun dealer in my area? I have looked in the phone book and am not comfortable just picking someone that way. Please let me know. Thanks!

You Need more detail, such as calibor, solid frame,take-dow,condition,serial number,,better yet a photo and some one will give you a approx value. steve

The information on the rifle is as follows.
It is in good condition, some scratches, a chip on the butt end of the stock has been repaired, some wear on the blueing.
I am not sure what you mean by take down, I have never taken it down and would not want to do so as I never have done so.
As far as solid frame, I believe it is a solid frame.
It is a Savage 30/30, Serial #99557, the markings are:
On the side of the barrel it says Savage Hi-Pressure Steel Model 1899
Manufactured by The Savage Arms Company, Utica, NY USA, Patented February 7, 1893, July 25, 1893, October 3, 1893.
The butt has a circle with an Indian Head in the middle of it and the words Savage Quality in it. Above the circle says Trade, below the circle says Mark.
It has a Lyman Double Peep site and the words Lyman, Middleton, CT USA stamped on it.
The front site is marked Marble #6.
The scope mount also has Lyman stamped on it.
I have pictures on my desktop but am unsure how to add them to my post and am worried about the size of them being ok to send. I am working on that now.
Thanks for any info!

rob58, It sounded like a decent older model 1899 savage chambered in 30-30, until you got to the part about the "scopemount" that pretty much makes it a shooter instead of collector, also the bluing condition will have a big factor in value.also the stock repair affects its value Don

... its probably worth less than $500 at an online auction site. You might actually be better off in a trade deal with a local dealer.

Takedown rifle ,with factory sling eyes, and a shotgun butt, tang sight, it has some good features to bad about drill and tap,it is still a decent rifle in a 30-30. Don
