Hi,
I'm a new member to the forum and I've read a few of the posts. I'm trying to plan a hunt out of Kaycee for pronghorn at the end of October and was wondering if anyone could help advise me of whether I need to find a landowner and pay a trespass fee or go public. What unit should I get a tag in? It looks like units 20-23 are still available online. Any help would be great.
Thanks,
Dan

I hunt out of Kaycee- this will be my 2nd year. Last year I toughed it out on the public and we hunted the end of the season around the 21st of October. This year I'm going back solo and will do a trespass hunt - you can score on public but from what we saw the better bucks were on private and when driving all the way from Oregon like me a couple extra bucks for a trespass is worth it. You might check unit 21 also it has a bunch of tags left over, I almost did unit 20 since there is some land to access but its tough. Call Dan Thiele at the WDFW he is the bio for that area and real helpful - they will also be able to supply you with a rancher/landowner list that lists most of the ranchers that allow trespass. Good luck you will have a good time and will see plenty of antelope - but the weather may be a factor, we had a couple good days and a couple real nasty days you couldn't hunt much.

This is my first year out there and I am hunting in 23 public. I was just curious how saturated the public lands are with hunters?? I was told the only advantage of private is the ability to drive. Don't take this wrong, but I hope
I dont see you out there. Good Luck!!!!

Heres a tresspass fee buck I got on the Hornbuckle ranch in eastern Wyoming with my archery equipment.
It was a diy.
The Antelope of course.

The range is from a low of $100 to maybe $600 - at least the folks I called came in there. They guy I'm hunting with charges $250 but does limit the number of hunters so thats nice. I've attached a pic of the buck I got last year - just picked him up from the taxi about 3 weeks ago.

I'm not terribly familiar with that unit, but make sure to check out the WY F&G's Hunter Management Area and/or Walk In Area's listed for that unit.

PS- A property would have to have unreal trophy potential for me to consider paying a tresspass fee for pronghorn in WY...

Is this deeded land your paying fees on or leased land? I thought most of the land in that part of WY was public land.
