what are your opinions of the value of a pre 64 model 70? it has the original iron sights but its also been tapped for scope mounts 30-06 caliber id say 90% condition. sorry i cant send a photo

Need more info.. Std., SG, or FWT? Stock finish, cracks, bedding? Rust?

standart weight, not rebedded,no rust,no cracks but dents and dings on stock. finish looks to be original blued but worn. anything else? ballpark? im just asking because i can get it for $500 wondering if i should snag it up

I would say generally that most Pre-64 Model 70's bottom out in value at $600. Most shooters in the condition you describe sell in the $700 range. What you have described would clearly be worth $500 in my opinion. I would buy it, You could throw the barrel and stock away and still have a $500 action.

not that it really matters.....unless somebody butchered the D&T, the action is worth that. And you could always go to bigger scope mount holes if that's a problem.
