Has anyone tried loading these? I see the heaviest GMX bullet that Hornady lists is 165 gr.

Haven't tried them but if that bullet performs like a tsx you really don't need more wt. I've run a 150 tsx through about 3' of elk and exited an offside shoulder bone which left that bone mush.

Do you have any data on 165/168's out of you Roy w/ H1000 or Retumbo?

Not much data out there...

I have used 88.0 gr of H-1000 with the 165 gr TSX in Rem cases. I did not get a chance to chrono them, though.

Hunter...I haven't shot 165 class bullets alot out of the wby's. If it were me working up loads for the 165 gmx I'd start with max data on the 180's and work up from there. I would say that you'd certainly be able to get up to another 1.5-2.0 grains more than 180 data. Accuracy trumps super velocity so work up and see what shoots. You've got all the speed you need with the 300 bee even at milder loads. Retumbo will be to slow for the 165 bullet....H1000 will be as slow as you want to go.

Hunter...I have yet to play with the gmx. Right now for mono bullets I'm playing with the nosler e-tips that I've picked up on sale at either shooters proshop or their internet auction site " bivwak".
I had 2 300 wby's. One was an Alaskan with the nickel coating and it was a great shooter. The other was one of the earlier ultra lights and it has been a real challenge. I was about to get a new barrel but tried retumbo with the 200 accubond and 180 tsx. It liked the 200 ab with about 86 grains and really liked the tsx with 88.2 grains. this gun would barely hit a pie plate at 200 yds but all of a sudden went well under moa with the tsx/retumbo recipe. I still think there is something crazy about the barrel but if it performs with the tsx I can't possibly have any complaints. Bottom line is this barrel seems to like "long" bullets. I think I'd be wasting my time with anything smaller than the 180 in this gun. All this doesn't mean your gun won't shoot reaaly well with the gmx and it should be really deadly if it does.
BTW the 150 tsx I talked about in my earlier post came out of a 30/378 sako rifle. I'm pretty sure at the impact velocity that bullet had all the pedals blew off within inches of hitting the animal. It's amazing what a "metal rod" can do to an animal at about 3600 fps!

i also tryed 150 gr interlocks in the 300 wby and the front sholders of deer was really blood shot so i thought if i went to this bullet it would be a liitle easier on the eating part that 30/378 must really be fast i dont think anything in nortamerica could laugh that 150gr tsx off

Sone reports that I have read indeed verified Hornady's claims thet the guilding metal on the GMX's are identical to the Interlock bullets. Thus you can start and should be able to match interlock velocities with identical pressures.

If you want to use that 300 bee on deer you can also tame it down by loading on the lighter side of the published charts. Without looking I'll bet there is plenty of data out there on 180 bullets at around 2700-2800 fps. That would give you 30-06 performance levels and not to many people complain that the 06 is too much for deer.
