Hello again. If it does not go against this forum's rules, I wonder if anyone would recommend a reputable gunsmith who has experience with the Savage 99.

Sorry for not giving specifics. My 99f's trigger has a good deal of creep and an awfully heavy pull. I was hoping to have this adjusted. Also, there are no gunsmith's in my local area. If I could locate a good Smith I might use there services for work on other firearms.

Thanks Knucklehead36. I E-mailed your Smith today with my questions. Went on a road trip today to Rogers OH Flea. Stopped at a few Gun Shops on the way up and back. No cool finds but also no recommended gunsmiths locally (75 mile radius). It's a shame none are available in this area. I really miss my old Smith who hung it up and went to the coal mine. Possibly a niche market who's void needs filled.

Very few gunsmiths who know anything about the 99. Trigger work is one of those things that are a bit touchy on the 99. I've heard that if not done carefully, it can make the gun unsafe. So good luck!

I read about a gunsmith (Gun Digest 63rd Edition, 2009) who specializes in the 99, here's his info:
Doug Wells, Proprietor 30 years full-time gunsmith "Lock, Stock, & Barrel" P.O. Box 46034 Huson, Montana 59846
BTW if anyone has heard of a good one in Canada that would help me. Thanks!

His name has come up before. I posted it in the sticky above on Misc. Good Things. If he is good maybe we can through him enough work to keep his door open. Doug Wells Lock, Stock & Barrel PO Box 460304 Huson, MT 59846 406-626-4152 If you have used him before please advise of your experiance.

Thanks for the update on Gostomski. I'm overseas right now but I'll give him a ring when I get back to the states.

www.bosesofnebraska.comI know several of us have used these guys. They have done outstanding work at reasonable prices for me. You have the additional cost of shipping to and fro but worth the money IMO.
