Hey, anybody have expierence with the Remmy's 770, I am a 700 fan but never shot or even held a 770. I'm looking at one in 7mm mag but have heard mixed stories about these rifles. Won't be used for competition or anything, just straight hunting rifle. Thanks?

Like playing Russian roulette I hear.. Heard a lot of bad stuff about the gun, from barrels exploding to bolts jamming and not being able to close. My friend bought one and it was just NOT an accurate gun... Ended up selling it for about a real cheap price to his cousin.. Just google Remington 770 problems and you'll see a whole grocery list of problems

Why dont you get a new Marlin X7, it is basically a Remington for $280.00 new and Ive heard nothing but great reviews of this rifle. Im going to try to find one in 7mm-08.

If you have a Walmart near by, check them out. Ours has 700 SPS's for 350.00 right now, plus the mail in rebate.

Hunter1381 -

Comparing a 770 to a 700 is like comparing a Yugo to a Toyota.

Forget the 770 with its pressed-in barel and plastic parts and get a 700.

If someone gave me a 770 I would trade it off as soon as I could - too many good guns out there.

Coyote Hunter - NRA Patriot Life, NRA Whittington Center Life, GOA, DAD - and I VOTE!

No, I'm not a Ruger bigot - just an unabashed fan of their revolvers, M77's and #1's.

A good .30-06 is a 99% solution.

Hey Nuguy, I was also thinking about the Marlin's. I have heard good things about them aswell. So everybody pretty much against the 770. I'm just looking at a decent priced plain jane rifle, I have a 700 and love them, just the wife won't let me spend much on this one so have to stay pretty cheap in price.
