I bought a Remington 700 classic stock that had been broken in the magazine/trigger guard area. If you spread the crack apart it is visable but is not that noticable otherwise.

Any hints on stock repair. Any referals to articles, references or possible adhesive/glues/epoxies etc. would be appreciated. I plan to put the stock on a 223 so recoil and future damage should not be a problem.

I can send pictures to anyone for more information.

Thanks in advance.

Since you can spread the crack, First thing is to remove the metal, then tape off around the cracked area, and coat with some paste wax. (a precaution that will save you a lot of frustration later.

I would then mix up some 2 part epoxy, get you a syringe, fill it with the mixture. Then spread the crack apart, squeeze in some epoxy, squeeze the wood back together, and then rubber band it to hold it in place. Clean up anything dripping, oozing, etc. , out of the repair site. Let it dry over night, and then clean up the outside area of the repair(now is when the taping, and waxing will pay off). It should be as good as new. You may see a fine line where the repair was made, but nothing real noticeable.

Good luck.
