I'd like to know if there is a guy who wouldn't mind making snap caps of .270 and 12 gauge for me. I'd like for them to be generally around the same weight as the ammunition, but I do not care what is really put on the end. I've seen websites where people stick an eraser at the end of rifle snap caps and where people fill a 12 gauge with BBs, fish weights, etc.
I'd like 5 in the .270 and 5 in the 12 gauge. I can pay a bit for the materials + the shipping.
I saw how they had snap caps at cabela's for $7 for 2 and found them overpriced.. If anyone already has these snap caps and no long use them or has the free time to make them, that'll be great.
Thanks
John

Make them yourself using silicone caulk. Just fill the pocket with the caulk, let it cure, then cut it off with a razor blade. You can renew as needed very inexpensively.

You can also fill the primer pocket with hot glue. Then do the same as above, and trim.

I like to cut primer sized plugs from a truck mud flap (looks like recycled tire rubber) using brass tubing and gluing in place. Lasts a looong time.

Which explains a lot.

Making a "snap cap" is easy. Making one that EFFECTIVELY cushions/protects a firing pin is much more difficult. Of the suggestions above I would guess the idea of a hard rubber mud flap "primer" would actually do the job best.
