We don't have any true conservatives here at all, be it social or fiscal.

Third thing on the list should be those guys that sell stuff advertised as new and it turns out to be used/damaged. Then won't make good on it. Those people suck in my books, too.

Whats wronge with socialism?
...............some seem to confuse with communism. Get a dictonary.
We all know not 1 Canuck in 10000 would want the US Health Care System. I'm a card carrying conservative but have no problem helping out my neighbour.

Socialism = Communism as much as Conservatism = Fascism.
Canada has many "socialist" programs such as Medicare, Canada Pension, Old Age Security, Employment Insurance, it doesn't make us a "socialist" or for that matter a "conservative" country.

Every civilized country has "socialist" programs. Old age pensions, public schools, welfare, police forces, firemen, medical care for those who can't afford to pay, legal representation for all people, libraries, etc. are all "socialist".

A case could be made for calling all militaries in the world "socialist" too - as they are all funded by - the taxpayer. Like the other mentioned programs - whether the individual might want his taxes spent on them - or not.

No country that has ever instituted "socialist" programs such as these - has ever abandoned them.

Why?

Simple.

In a democracy - the people would never stand for it.

Public roads, public land, public garbage dumps,public rivers and lakes,public fish and wildlife................give me more socialism please.

It's funny no one picked up what I was laughing at.Last Christmas there was a great hue and cry about the Liberals getting in bed with the soicalists and separtists,look who's in that bed now.Politics is funny. Be what it may,we end up with good, moderate,pragmatic, goverment.

So true..........we Canadians have left and right points of view but live in the centre. I hope the US is not as polarized as it might appear. Hell I'm sure even a few liberals go hunting.

We Americans have left and right points of view and we live in a swinging pendulum from left to right that does not center for long. The only thing that both sides want is our tax dollars, if you're the government or tax dollars to work, if you're a citizen. The government gets the taxes, we get cut services most of the time.

I live on the Canadian Border and: where are Canadians going to go for their emergency heart surgeries if the US gets a Canada type health insurance? None of us will get heart surgery whe we need it.

I sure don't want to hijack this thread but will make a few comments.

I live on the US border also and our maternity ward is full of Americans who choose to have their baby delivered in Canada. This because our babies have a higher survival rate then the US and also because they save lots of money. Also lets be totally clear. Canadians love our health care system, something Fox news never mentions though they always dig down and find some Canuck not happy with our service. If we prefered a US style system we would get one. We had system just like yours decades ago and happily got rid of it.
I know plenty of Americans who hate your system too. I also personally know a Canadian who had a heart tranplant 10 years ago and this was done entirally within Canada. If your going to die you will get to the front of the line. In the US you only get to the front, if you can pay.
Finally we could easily eliminate our waite times simply by dropping 20 percent of our population...........just like the US. And all Canadians (libs or conservatives)believe health care is a right not a privalage.............especially for our kids.

The harder I work, the higher percentage taxes I pay. Alot of those taxes go to people who don't work hard, or at all for that matter. To me, that's not helping my neighbour, that's creating a welfare state.

Just a drop in the bucket..don't forget the millions given to the Palestenian Authority, the millions spent in Afghanistan building roads and upgrading infrastructure [while Canadas' rots], oh and Iraq a few more millions there...and even China manages to finangle some cash from our generous Canadian Govt. Foreign Aid? Cut it off...

While we are on this subject, why not add in the suggestion that we "out-source" our penal and legal system??? I hear they could keep a prisoner in India or China for about $500 per year...put the legal system up for bids just like all of our lost manufacturing jobs and I bet we could save a bundle of taxes???

Your REAL problem is that you have a parliamentary system of government where the mob in charge rules (imagine Pelosi with absolute power!). No checks and balances, no Bill of Rights and an economic giveaway system on the verge of collapse.

Just like the other Commonwealth and European "democracies" (LOL) you are on the path to collapse and anarchy.

NOT that I am blowing our horn, as we are chasing every failed idea from abroad as fast as we can.

IF we regain the Seante or House in 2010, we have slim chance. If not Obama and the D.C. idiots will destroy our economy and as we go, so goes the world.

Now Israel may Neutron bomb Iran (they have at least 100), starting a real war. After it ended we would have lots of jobs in mideast oil fields for yours' & our underemployed illegals.
(just kidding about the jobs, not the war)
